Dementia/Alzheimer’s

  • Approaching Alzheimer’s: First Responder Training – This online course will help prepare you to respond to common calls involving a person with dementia. Start at the Briefing for tips and information that can help in any situation. Then, hear from other first responders and learn how to respond to typical calls. In each topic you’ll take a quiz yourself to test your new knowledge of the new tips. If you’d like to learn more, you can explore all of the topics in greater detail. Complete all topics to earn a certificate or simply review those most relevant to your role.

New Member Training

All 2021 New Member Training activities will be held in the training room at the Hanover Fire Station, 48 Lyme Road, Hanover, NH unless otherwise noted.

  • Saturday, October 9 – New Member Orientation/Introduction to UVWRT/Overview of SAR/Team gear overview and use – 0900-1500
  • Tuesday, October 12 – Map and Compass/GPS/night navigation exercise – 1800-2100
  • Saturday, October 16 – Shakedown hike – Cardigan Mt., Orange, NH – 0700-1400
  • Tuesday, October 19 – Low Angle/Ropes & Knots/Litter Carrying Techniques – 1800-2100
  • Saturday, October 23 – Wilderness Medicine and Patient Packaging – 0900-1500
  • Tuesday, October 26 – Make up class (map/compass/gps/liter/low angle?) – 1800-2100
  • Saturday, October 30 – Full team drill and final training checkout – (time & location t.b.d.)
